The Shooting Challenge: Body Light Painting
“Photograph a person who is somehow augmented by light painting. What I mean by that: glowing exoskeletons, cartoony heads and psychedelic auras. Put differently, you should reimagine the portrait with light. The light painting shouldn’t be your stereotypical someone spelling a word or neat glowing orb in the background. The light should be part of a subject.”
National Geographic’s International Photography Contest attracts thousands of entries from photographers of all skill levels around the world every year. This photo was of Nazroo, a mahout (elephant driver), poses for a portrait while taking his elephant, Rajan, out for a swim in front of Radha Nagar Beach in Havelock, Andaman Islands. Beautiful capture.
Creative commercial photography by Tim MacPherson. Make sure you check out the full gallery, “The Power of Dreams” for more inspired concepts; I love the ski one.

I don’t know too much about this piece of work but I like the emotions that it capture. Both sides very innocent in their own respect and at the same time scared of each other. Other than that, I love the color tone in the overall composition and the beautiful dress.
Inspiring. If only it was that easy to go back into time and revisit the moments remembered? Capture the essence of our past, relive it for the innocent spirit within us.
Bright pastel colors, bold photo manipulations and illustrations are the style of art by Archan Nair, a designer from India. The image above is titled “The Joy Ballad”, a piece for the Dream Collaborative. Photography by Parriss Whitingham.
Photographs really are experience captured, and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquisitive mood. To photograph is to appropriate the thing being photographed.
